Brief Introduction of China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe
Life is full of dreams…
People with Disabilities equally love life and art.
China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe was founded in 1987. With the support and cares of the whole society, the Performing Troupe bears the dreams of people with disabilities and creates a SPECIAL ART which delights audiences, purifying the soul with Truth, Honesty and Virtue. It strengthens people’s will, and fosters friendship with sincerity.
Having studied for 21 years, the Performing Troupe has begun to bring forth new ideas independently, produced arts classics My Dream, and travelled to more than 60 countries in Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Oceania. Artists with physical disabilities

My Dream V is a musical dance presented for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It covers all types of arts representing romantic Chinese customs and rich eastern expressions.
In eastern civilization, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva with a thousand hands and a thousoud eyes is the embodiment of mercy. In arts, 42 hands that form a circle represent a thousand hands. In the dance Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, 21 hearing impaired dancers stand on the lotus stage just like one person with a thousand hands. With kind expression in their eyes, varied postures of hands and saintly dance, they perform the kindness of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. The dance was voted as the most popular show by Chinese TV audience.
The dance by hearing impaired Dancing&Listening is passionate Latin dances. Music is the soul of dance. They cannot hear music but see the music for dance. Their world becomes interesting and pleasant. Fantastic Rumba, Mysterious Samba and Passionate Cha-cha are their desire for arts in silent world.
The condensed dance drama Butterfly Lovers is directed by Tai Lihua with hearing impairments and performed by hearing impaired performers is Chinese Romeo and Juliet. Different from love tragedy, Butterfly Lovers break the traditional interpretation and adopts Romanism approach. Two hearing impaired dancers play the role of two youth that are deeply in love and reunite in heaven as butterflies.
Peking opera is the the quintessence of China. At the Crossroad is the most famous martial show in Peking opera. Two hearing impaired performers who practiced martial arts since their childhood present a comedy of misunderstanding. They perform a breath-taking series of Chinese martial arts stunt. The show is presented by hearing and visually impaired performers. The visually impaired memorize the rhythms, provide accompaniment and dubbing, and conduct sign language for the hearing impaired. Their unique collaboration makes for an extraordinary performance. The hearing impaired and the visually impaired complement each other and cooperate smoothly. They give audience a completely new impression.
In the dance To See Spring, a group of visually impaired children enjoy spring with their imagination. They feel the mild wind and warm sunshine with their ears, their noses and their hands. When you see the visually impaired face life happily, you may tell yourselves to enjoy life.
The group of visually impaired children play the Instrumental Suites. They rearrange and orchestrate music all by themselves and play traditions and customs of different nations. They greet the world by playing their instruments. Especially, in the music Sound of Music, they imitate 7 children’s songs by playing different instruments. The Chinese and foreign songs by singers with disabilities are pure and sweet.
Truth, Honesty and Virtue are the common spirit pursued by human beings. Peace and Love are the wishes of the whole world. Symbolizing them both, My Dream goes beyond the boundaries of cultures, nations and languages bringing spiritual joy to people.
